CLAT 2027 Registration Last Date: October 31 Is Closer Than You Think

CLAT 2027 registration closes on October 31, 2026. Today is October 1. That’s 30 days. Here’s everything in one place.
- Last date: October 31, 2026. No extensions. No late registration.
- Registration portal: consortiumofnlus.ac.in
- Fee: Rs. 4,000 for General/OBC/EWS, Rs. 3,500 for SC/ST/BPL/PwD
- No age limit. No attempt limit. Students appearing in Class 12 in 2027 are eligible.
- Common mistakes: wrong category, photo spec errors, not downloading confirmation slip
- After registration: 50 to 60 days left before the exam. GK is your fastest gain.
Every year, students who have been preparing seriously for months miss the CLAT registration deadline. Not because they forgot CLAT existed. Because October felt far away in August, and then it was October 28, the portal was slow, payment was failing, and the deadline was in 3 days.
I’ve watched this happen more than I should have in 15+ years of teaching. A student who prepared well for 8 months doesn’t get to sit the exam because they assumed there’d be more time. That is a completely avoidable loss.
Today is October 1. You have 30 days. This piece tells you exactly what you need, what to watch out for, and what to do the moment registration is done.
Who is eligible to register for CLAT 2027?
The eligibility criteria for CLAT 2027 are straightforward. You need to have passed Class 12 or be appearing in Class 12 in the 2027 board examinations. The minimum aggregate is 45% in Class 12 for General, OBC, and EWS students and 40% for SC and ST students.
There is no age limit. This was removed in 2021 and has not come back. If you are a repeat aspirant giving CLAT for the second or third time, your eligibility is exactly the same as a student appearing for the first time.
There is also no limit on the number of attempts. You can appear for CLAT as many times as you want until you secure the admission you are looking for.
CLAT 2027 registration fee
| Category | Registration Fee | Payment mode |
|---|---|---|
| General, OBC (NCL), EWS | Rs. 4,000 | Online — debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI |
| SC, ST, BPL, PwD | Rs. 3,500 | Online — debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI |
Documents you need before you start the form
Keep everything ready before you open the registration form. Stopping mid-way to find documents causes errors and sometimes session timeouts that mean starting over.

- Class 10 marksheet or certificate for date of birth proof. This is the primary DOB document CLAT accepts.
- Class 12 marksheet or board admit card if you are appearing in 2027. If you have already passed, your marksheet works.
- Passport-size photograph with a plain white background. Official specifications: up to 500 KB, JPG/JPEG or PNG format, recent photo. Don’t use a photo with a coloured or blurred background.
- Signature on plain white paper, scanned or photographed clearly. Black ink on white paper. No fancy fonts.
- Government-issued ID Aadhaar card, passport, or any government photo ID for identity verification.
- Category certificate if you are applying as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or BPL issued by the appropriate authority (Tehsildar or above). Without this, a category claim cannot be verified during counselling.
- PwD certificate if applicable, from a competent medical authority as specified by the Consortium.
Common registration mistakes that cause real problems
Every year I hear from students who submitted a form with an error they only discovered at the admit card stage or during counselling. These are the most common ones.
Selecting the wrong category
The category you select during registration affects your fee, your seat eligibility during counselling, and your rank bracket. If you apply under General when you are OBC (NCL), or if you apply under a category you don't have a certificate for, it causes issues at counselling. Select your actual category and ensure your certificate matches it exactly.
Date of birth entered incorrectly
This seems obvious, but transposing day and month (like entering 07/04 instead of 04/07) is one of the most common errors on the form. The DOB on your form must match your Class 10 certificate exactly. A mismatch can flag your application during document verification.
Photograph not meeting specifications
Coloured backgrounds, selfies, photos with glasses (in some years), file size too large, or photos taken more than 6 months ago. The portal will sometimes accept a non-compliant photo without a warning, but it can cause problems during admit card generation or identity verification at the exam centre.
Not downloading the confirmation slip
After successful payment, download and save the registration confirmation slip immediately. The portal does show receipts, but technical issues sometimes mean students can't access their confirmation later. Your saved slip is your proof of registration.
Registering on the last day
Every year on October 30 and 31, the consortium portal slows down significantly because thousands of students are registering simultaneously. Payment failures, session timeouts, and form submission errors are common. If you register on October 25 instead, you avoid all of this entirely. There is no benefit to waiting.
Step-by-step: how to register for CLAT 2027
After registration: what the next 50 days look like
Registration is a 30-minute process. What comes after is what actually determines your rank.
Once you’ve registered for CLAT 2027, you have roughly 35 to 40 days before the exam on December 6. From today (October 1) you have about 65 days. Don’t wait until October 31 to register and eat into that preparation window. This is not a lot of time if you’ve been coasting on preparation. It is enough time if you triage correctly.

The three most time-sensitive things after registration:
Take a full diagnostic mock within 48 hours. You need to know your actual score before making any preparation decisions. Not your estimate. Not your strongest mock from 3 months ago. A fresh, timed, full mock taken cold. The error log from that mock is your preparation plan for the next 50 days.
Start CLAT-filtered GK if you haven’t already. GK is the fastest-moving section in the last 50 days because it doesn’t require building a skill from scratch. 110 curated topics studied in real depth will take a GK score from 10 to 22 or higher. That improvement is roughly 400 rank positions. No other section gives you that return per hour in 50 days.
Set a week-by-week plan and stick to it. Vague “I’ll prepare more seriously now” decisions don’t produce results. A specific plan that tells you what you’re drilling on which day does. Write it down on Day 1 after registration.
“The students I’ve seen recover the most in the final stretch after registration are not the ones who studied the most hours. They’re the ones who took a diagnostic mock on Day 1, found their specific problem, and attacked it with specific drills. That clarity is worth more than any amount of unfocused revision.”

In Class 11? Your registration is CLAT 2028 not this one
If you are currently in Class 11, you are not eligible for CLAT 2027. Your exam is CLAT 2028, and your registration will open next year. What you do between now and December 2027 is what determines your rank. TITAN 2028 is MEGA LAW & G.K.’s 16-month foundation batch for Class 11 students. 100 seats. Six NLU mentors in groups of 10. Regular classes start October 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CLAT 2027 registration last date?
The CLAT 2027 registration last date is October 31, 2026. Registration is done online at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Attempting to register on the last day is risky because server load is high and payment failures are common. Register before October 25 to be safe. The Consortium does not extend the deadline.
What documents do I need to register for CLAT 2027?
You need: Class 10 marksheet for date of birth proof, Class 12 marksheet or admit card if you are appearing in 2027, a passport-size photograph with plain white background (up to 500 KB, JPG/JPEG or PNG), your signature on white paper (up to 100 KB), a government-issued ID, and a caste or PwD certificate if you are applying under a reserved category. Keep all of these ready before starting the form.
What is the CLAT 2027 registration fee?
The registration fee is Rs. 4,000 for General, OBC (NCL), and EWS category students, and Rs. 3,500 for SC, ST, BPL, and PwD category students. Payment is made online through the registration portal using debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. After paying, download and save your payment confirmation immediately.
Can I change my details after CLAT 2027 registration?
Yes, there is typically a correction window of 7 to 10 days after registration closes. During this window, you can edit non-critical details. Critical fields like name spelling, date of birth, and category have very limited correction options. This is why reviewing every field before submitting is essential. Spell your name exactly as it appears on your board documents.
What happens if I miss the CLAT 2027 registration deadline?
If you miss the October 31 deadline, you cannot appear for CLAT 2027. The Consortium of NLUs does not extend the deadline or accept late registrations. The only option at that point is to prepare for CLAT 2028 and use this year as additional preparation time. This is a completely avoidable situation. Register before October 25.
Is there an age limit for CLAT 2027?
No. The age limit for CLAT was removed in 2021. There is no upper age limit to appear for CLAT 2027. Students who have previously appeared and are attempting again are fully eligible. There is also no limit on the number of attempts.
I am in Class 11. Can I register for CLAT 2027?
No. CLAT 2027 is for students who have passed Class 12 or are appearing in Class 12 in 2027. If you are currently in Class 11, you will be eligible for CLAT 2028. This is actually the better position to be in — you have 15 months to build your preparation correctly from the start. TITAN 2028 is built specifically for Class 11 students beginning now.
After registering for CLAT 2027, what should I do next?
After registration, take a full diagnostic mock within 48 hours to know your actual score and error pattern. Then start CLAT-filtered GK if you haven't already — it's the fastest-improving section in 50 days. Set up a week-by-week plan immediately. MEGA GK MARATHON is a 50-day batch that runs exactly over this window and covers 110 curated GK, Current Affairs, and Legal Affairs topics with live classes, quizzes, and mock tests.
