6 Days Between CLAT and AILET: A Realistic Plan for 7 to 12 December

The honest version upfront

No plan can promise you a rank. In 6 days you cannot learn a new syllabus. What you can do is switch from CLAT mode to AILET mode, and protect your marks from avoidable mistakes. That is the aim of this plan.

  • CLAT 2027 is on Sunday, 6 December 2026. AILET 2027 is on Sunday, 13 December 2026, so you have 6 days, 7 to 12 December. Please confirm both dates on the official notices.
  • AILET has 150 questions in 3 sections: English 50, GK 30 and Logical Reasoning 70. CLAT has 120 questions in 5 sections.
  • Both have +1 for a right answer and -0.25 for a wrong one. With more questions in the same time, speed and skipping matter more in AILET.
  • The plan below is a simple day-by-day guide. You can follow it with or without our kit.
  • If you are not sitting AILET, you do not need this plan, and I say so near the end.

A line many students say to me: “Sir, CLAT will be over on 6 December and AILET is one week later. What do I even do in between?”

I have taught and counselled thousands of CLAT and AILET aspirants. I also see the same mistake every year. Students finish CLAT, feel tired or upset, and then prepare for AILET the same way they prepared for CLAT. But the paper is different. The habits that helped you in CLAT will not carry over by themselves.

So let me show you how I would use these 6 days, in simple steps.

How different is AILET from CLAT?

The syllabus is close, but the paper feels very different. Here is the side-by-side view.

What this means for you:

  • More questions, same time. AILET asks 150 questions, so each question gets less time than in CLAT. Check the time and pattern on your admit card and the official notice, because some sources differ.
  • Logical Reasoning is the biggest section. It has 70 of the 150 questions. A strong reasoning day is worth more here than in CLAT.
  • Shorter questions. CLAT is mostly passage-based. AILET has more short, direct questions, including one-line GK.
  • No separate Legal section. Do not spend your 6 days on legal passages.

What can you really do in 6 days?

Let me be honest, because false hope does more harm than good.

  • You can learn the AILET pattern, build speed, revise GK in a smart way, fix your usual mistakes and rest well before the paper.
  • You cannot finish a whole year of current affairs from scratch, or turn weak English into strong English in a week.

So the plan is about sharpening what you already have. Think of it as getting your tools ready, and not buying new ones.

What should you do on the evening of 6 December?

Come out of the CLAT hall and do these three things.

  1. Do not check the answer key tonight. You cannot change the paper now. If you feel bad, it will only spoil tomorrow.
  2. Eat well and sleep early. A tired mind learns slowly.
  3. Write tomorrow’s plan on one page, so you wake up with a clear start.

If CLAT went badly, remember this: a bad paper does not decide AILET. For that mindset, read How to Stay Motivated While Preparing for CLAT.

The 6-day plan: what to do each day

Day 1 (7 Dec)

Reasoning first

Start with Logical Reasoning, because it carries 70 questions. Do timed sets of the kinds you find hardest. Note every mistake in a small error log.

Day 2 (8 Dec)

English and logic

English has 50 questions, so give it a full block. Practise AILET-style English, with short passages, grammar and vocabulary. Then do another round of reasoning.

Day 3 (9 Dec)

GK push

Revise the last 12 months of current affairs from your own notes, and the static facts linked to them. Use one-line questions. Do not open new heavy sources.

Day 4 (10 Dec)

Speed

Use a timer on everything today. Practise reading a question, deciding and moving on. Learn to skip a question within seconds if you see no way in.

Day 5 (11 Dec)

Full pattern

Take one full AILET-style paper in exam conditions, with the same start time as the real paper. Then review it properly: sort every mistake into did not know, got trapped or ran out of time.

Day 6 (12 Dec)

Sharpen, then rest

Fix your top two or three mistakes only. Do light revision. Pack your bag, check your admit card and the centre. Sleep early. No new material.

Study hours are personal. Some students can handle up to 10 hours a day for a few days, and some cannot. If you are exhausted after CLAT, a lighter plan that you actually finish is better than a heavy plan you drop on Day 2.

THE PROBLEM, AND THE FIX

SIX DAYS. NO PLAN. NO MOCKS. NO ONE TO ASK.

The problem: you finish CLAT tired, and then plan AILET alone with no pattern practice and no one to ask.

The solution: the AILET GK Mastery Workbook. A GK book, 10 AILET mocks, a 6-day plan, and NLU Delhi mentors in a private group.

How do you prepare GK for AILET in these days?

GK is only 30 questions, but it is the section where focused revision gives you quick returns.

  • One-line facts. AILET GK questions are usually short and direct. Practise recalling a fact in one line, quickly.
  • Do not ignore static GK. In our analysis of the AILET 2024 paper, 22 of the 30 GK questions were static facts, not news. So revise the static facts around the news you already know, such as places, institutions, awards and constitutional bodies.
  • Revise, do not collect. Use the notes you already made. A new pile of material in these 6 days only adds stress.
  • Look at traps. Options often look close. Learn to check small details like year, place and name.

If your GK backlog is large, read How to Clear 10 Months of CLAT GK Backlog in 30 Days. It helps for the CLAT side too.

“In the 6 days after CLAT, do not try to become a new student. Become a sharper version of the student you already are.”

How do you handle speed and negative marking in AILET?

AILET gives you 150 questions, so you cannot stop and think long over each one. Here is how I would handle it.

  • Do the sure questions first. Pick up the easy marks, then return to the harder ones.
  • Skip fast. If you do not see a path in about half a minute, move on.
  • Do not guess blindly. Every wrong answer costs 0.25, so four wrong guesses cancel a mark you earned. Guess only after you have removed at least one or two options.
  • Keep a steady rhythm. Check your time at fixed points, not after every question.

The logic of attempts and skipping is the same one I explained in The 8-Mark Lead: How Negative Marking in the Passages Section Is Ruining Your CLAT Rank. For how to split your time inside the paper, see CLAT 2027 Time Management. The split is different for AILET, but the habit of planning your time is the same.

What are the common mistakes in these 6 days?

The mistakeWhy it hurtsDo this instead
Preparing AILET like CLATYou practise long passages when AILET has short, quick questions.Practise AILET-style sets with a timer.
Checking CLAT answer keysIt drains energy you need for the next paper.Close the book on CLAT until after 13 December.
Starting new materialYou feel busy but forget what you already knew.Revise your own notes and error log.
Over-studying on Day 1You burn out by Day 3.Match the plan to your energy.
Skipping sleepReasoning needs a fresh mind.Sleep early, especially on 11 and 12 December.
No full paper before AILETThe first time you feel the speed is on the real day.Take one full paper on Day 5.

What should you do on the night before and on AILET day?

  • Night before: keep it light. Look at your error log and a short GK list. Keep your admit card, ID and pens ready. Sleep early.
  • On the day: reach the centre in good time. Read the instructions carefully. Start with sections you are comfortable with.
  • During the paper: if a question stops you, mark it and move on. Do not carry the last question’s stress into the next one.

Please check the reporting time, the time of the paper and the rules in your admit card and the official AILET notice. I have not listed them here because they can change.

What if you are not sitting AILET?

Then you do not need this plan. AILET is for NLU Delhi only, and many students apply to it as an extra chance along with CLAT. If you want to focus on CLAT results and counselling, that is a fine choice. The only thing I ask is that you decide on purpose. Do not decide because everyone else is.

If you are not sure whether AILET is right for you, talk to us. We will help you decide without pushing you either way.

How can mentorship help in these 6 days?

These days are short, and a small mistake in planning costs a lot. Someone who has seen this stretch many times can tell you what to cut and what to keep.

At MEGA LAW & G.K., we provide mentorship to our students. Every batch includes mentorship from current NLU students, with one mentor for every 10 students. We also provide one-on-one mentorship to all students, taken by me for strategy and decision guidance. For any query, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7983667303.

The plan in one line

Rest on the evening of CLAT, spend your 6 days on pattern, speed and GK, take one full paper on Day 5, and sleep before AILET. Keep it simple, and keep it yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days are there between CLAT 2027 and AILET 2027?
CLAT 2027 is on Sunday, 6 December 2026, and AILET 2027 is on Sunday, 13 December 2026. That leaves 6 full days, 7 to 12 December. Please confirm both dates on the official notices before you plan, because dates can change.
Can I prepare for AILET after CLAT in just 6 days?
You can get ready for AILET's pattern, speed and GK in 6 days, especially if you have prepared for CLAT well. You cannot learn a whole new syllabus. The aim is to switch your habits, not to start from zero.
What is the difference between the CLAT and AILET patterns?
CLAT UG has 120 questions in 5 sections. AILET UG has 150 questions in 3 sections: English 50, Current Affairs and GK 30, and Logical Reasoning 70. Both have +1 for a right answer and -0.25 for a wrong one. AILET has no separate Legal section.
Should I rest after the CLAT paper?
Yes, for the evening of 6 December. Do not check answer keys or discuss the paper that night. Start the plan fresh on 7 December. A tired and upset mind will waste the first day.
How should I prepare GK for AILET in the last week?
Focus on short, one-line facts: the last 12 months of current affairs and the static facts linked to them. Revise from notes you already have. Do not start new heavy books.
Is negative marking a big risk in AILET?
Yes, because there are 150 questions and time is short. Every wrong answer costs 0.25, so four wrong guesses cancel one mark you earned. Skip the questions you cannot reason out.
What is the AILET GK Mastery Workbook?
It is our kit for the days after CLAT. It has a GK book built from past AILET papers with 12 months of news and trap boxes, 10 AILET sectional mocks (4 Reasoning, 3 English, 3 GK), a 60-hour 6-day plan, a private group with NLU Delhi mentors, 6 live Zoom sessions and a night-before session. You can read the details on its landing page. Mentors are NLU Delhi students who take part in their personal capacity, and MEGA LAW & G.K. is not affiliated with National Law University, Delhi.
Can a mentor help me in these 6 days?
Yes. At MEGA LAW & G.K., we provide mentorship to our students and also one-on-one mentorship to all students. For any query, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7983667303.
